Supply and transport of sleepers for the Murcia-Almería high-speed railway. Section: Lorca-Vera-Almería

The construction of the Murcia-Almería High-Speed railway is of strategic importance for southeastern Spain, as it provides the missing link between the Mediterranean Corridor and southern Spain. With an estimated global investment of 3.5 billion euros, this infrastructure will allow Almería to be integrated into the national high-speed network and European networks, improving regional connectivity and helping overcome the province’s historical transport isolation. The Lot 1 contract awarded to the Joint Venture (UTE) formed by Traviesas y Prefabricados de Aragón, S.L. and Travipos, S.A. aims for the manufacturing, supply, and delivery of 85,000 international gauge monoblock sleepers type AE-VE, for 60 E1 rail, of which 12,500 will feature elastic under-sleeper pads, intended for track installation of the Murcia-Almería High-Speed railway, specifically in the section between Lorca, Vera, and Almería.

The line will drastically reduce journey times to Madrid and the Mediterranean arc, offering a fast and comfortable alternative for travel. Likewise, it contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting more efficient and environmentally friendly transport compared to cars or planes.
